Sideley Recreation Ground

Kegworth Parish Council would like to say a big thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the survey for Sideley Recreation Ground.

The consultation was launched at the Macmillan Coffee Morning which around fifty people attended. For all of October, the working party which is made up of four Parish Councillors, the Clerk and four members of the public have been busy consulting with the village. We handed out surveys and spoke to people on the Rec, completed surveys with people in the Market Place, arranged for surveys to be put in school book bags, attended Sutton Bonington Farmer's Market to engage with the students and importantly, knocked on 'near neighbours' doors to speak to the occupants directly to gain their valuable input.

The results are now available and can be viewed by clicking here.

The working party would like to say such a big thank you to all those people that offered skills and said that they are willing to volunteer. We will be in contact with you to follow this up.

Ongoing Works at Sideley Rec - Updated 26/1/17

Hopefully, some of you may already have seen the extensive tree works that have taken place on the Rec.

At the December meeting, the Parish Council agreed that the Working Party could begin the tendering process in order to make the improvements happen.

The bow-top fencing which currently surrounds the football area will be removed and re-installed along Sideley, creating a barrier from the road. A field gate and hand gate will be installed at both ends for access.

The Working Party have now met with three play equipment providers. The overwhelming response to the consultation in relation to play equipment is that older children need to be catered for. It therefore remains the Working Party's priority to provide new equipment for this age group.

Again, in response to the consultation, the most popular request was for circular picnic tables. The Working Party are currently pricing these with a view to new seating being installed soon.

Three separate financial contributions have recently been received, £500 from Bellway Homes, £500 from NWLDC Green Grants and £100 from a near neighbour to Sideley. All of these funds will be used to create the garden areas.

The tendering process to create the multi-use leisure path is progressing with a view to the pathways being in place by the end of March 2017.

If you have any questions in relation to Sideley, please contact me here or call into the Parish Council Office.

Between Christmas and New Year, some of the working party went to Sideley to 'stake out' the new proposed areas. The latest draft plan can be seen below. It is envisaged that works will commence during January and February, ready for the Spring time. Click here to see the latest draft of the design for Sideley.
